Day 3: Denver, CO!

Yes, day two was quite uneventful so I will briefly share some pictures of a sunset and windmills we saw while driving (which are the only exciting landmarks we witnessed the whole time):

Gorgeous... And yes, thats all of Kansas for you!

We got to Denver real late last night and checked into a Hampton inn (which served an incredible breakfast for us, especially since I have been craving donuts and waffles for a week now!). It was good just to get some down time to worship and talk to the Lord. He has really been on the move in our hearts since last night-- it's been answered prayer-- so this morning was much anticipated and enjoyed. He has answered so much prayer so far... And we are only on day 3!!!

We also woke up to a considerable amount of snowfall, which eli just LOVED!

He wore himself put chasing pinecones andrew threw for him and rolling in the snow!

One of the main reasons we came to Denver was to pick up some rims Andrew found on Craigslist for our snow tires. Well, we experienced more kindness from the Lord when the sweet man not only went to the trouble to unmount his old tires from the rims, but he also had it on his heart to give them to us free... I was so humbled and blessed! Sweet Andrew tried to give him some form of payment, but he insisted on giving them to us as a gift. A gift....We are truly grateful and cannot thank him enough for his generosity and kindness! Glory to God for the things He does for very underserving children!

He also wisely advised us to not stay too long in Denver if we were going to get into Breckenridge without ice and snow dangers (another prayer request!!) Apparently, the weather won't be letting up any time soon from here on out so we cancelled our second night at the hampton, packed up and hit up Panera until we got the call that our new tires were mounted and ready on our new rims... It was nice to rest and enjoy the fire for a while on this blustery day!

Snow snow snow!!!

And actually, Panera was just the beginning of our snow witnessing! When we went to go pick up the tires, it was just ruthless snow fall!!

We were going really slow at first because of the icy roads...

...but they got better as the drive went on.

Here is when we actually got the true Colorado view:

God is so good! What a beautiful picturesque moment we got to experience :)

We didn't do much of anything once we got to the hotel: watched one episode of Sarah Palin's Alaska and then went to Sports Authority in search for better gear (we have leaky snow boots and very small jackets!).

For dinner, Andrew took me to an old favorite of his: the Dam brewery!

It was a really nice atmosphere to just relax and dine.

This picture is for someone in my life that loved to use this word in every sentence he could when we crossed over the dam-- that person knows who he is ;) ha!

And answered prayer: Eli is doing better!

He actually settled down enough to eat his food, both this mooring and tonight. Praise God!!

And thanks for the black bear, mama! Eli has been a bit calmer with his blankie and bear around... Now we need to get him a ball! Ha!

Well blessings until tomorrow!!! Day 4.... Breckenridge!

A little closer to Alaska every mile. Maybe after this adventure, we will be perfectly satisfied with staying in one place... Maybe ;)

Can't start a real road trip without one of these, am I right or am I right? ;)

I know it's hard to tell, but it is snowing quite a bit... Just not sticking very well!! Turns to slush and now it's very cold here.

Say cya to Sally!! We won't see her until we get to Alaska since we want to do this trip together, opposed to driving in separate cars. She has been inspected and cleared for the journey.

Shortly after, we visited the Budweiser factory...

... Really just to see the horses!! (sorry I couldn't get better pictures, mom... They were being fed right when we showed up!)

These horses truly are pampered!

His name is Bruce!

... And these are his pals:

I believe this is Doc, haha!

Too cute!

The rest of the factory was kind of neat as well. Rich history:

I really liked the little fox they displayed on the building. He is eating a chicken leg and drinking a frothy beer:

After the tour, we were exhausted and searched out our hotel (got lost a million times in this city! Shesh!!). We were breathless at what we found:

This is the Four Seasons hotel

The lobby

And here is our room!

Oh believe me, I took advantage of all the available pampering!

Probably the nicest place I have ever stayed for the rate (besides Hawaii, but hey, it's a tropical island hotel... Nothing can really top that!)

Eli even got royal treatment!

(hope he doesn't get too used to this!)

We went out later and explored the downtown area in search of food and for a quick look at the Arch (it was about 20 degrees last night so it was hard to enjoy a whole lot!).

Andrew at the base of the arch

... And way up high is the top of the arch!

And yes, it was snowing! Pretty to watch dance in the light that is illuminates the arch... Not pleasant when freezing cold wind blasts it in your face!

I think this is the Capitol (?). Pretty whatever it is!

A random pretty park decorated for Christmas.

Andrew and Pinocchio! Eli has no clue what is going on, haha

I don't know if they had some artistic twist to the walking orange people, but we saw at least 3 of them in this park...

Here's Andrew walking with them:

Alas, this morning was the last day in our four seasons oasis. It was hard to start the morning with the thought of hitting the road and leaving...

However, I think Eli was more than ready-- we found out Eli might have a fear of heights...

He growled each time he saw the ground and retreated! Haha! I got it on film; too funny!

Well, we did eventually got on the road (after a stop at Starbucks of course!) and are currently in kansas. It is the coldest day I have felt thus far (it was 12 degrees this morning, but felt like 2 degrees!) and it be our biggest driving day of the whole trip-- pray for us: poor eli won't eat and I have been continually up and down in nausea... Not good for road trips! However, God has been kind to us both and allowed us to cling to Him, a soothing comforting rock in times of trial. So thankful to be a child of God!

That's all for now. Have a wonderful day and keep Him center for a heart full of joy :)

Oh, here is a funny movie of a dog we saw in Kansas (I said Missouri on the movie, but we are definitely in Kansas!).

Blessings! Xoxoxo
